The sky blanketed the land, a particulate of navy and indigo giving way to endless speckled black. Falling around me in layers of crumbling dusk. Swelling and disintegrating with each suggestion of summer air. Were the evening shades of blues thinning, or the crepuscular darkness thickening?

The concept for the record came pretty clearly to me all at once, but it took me a while (well, a long time) to wrestle the music into shape. Had a clear vision for this opening track, and in hindsight I’m not overly happy with Vespertine Shroud. I think it does get going in the second half but the first half is a bit boring. Also the string sounds in it aren’t super….

Crumbling Dusk though… think that is a banger, if I may say so myself. Think I’ve come a long way since then in terms of production, but I still like how this one came out. The big synths and straightforward but powerful bass just did exactly what I wanted them to do.

I needed to stick to the vision for the record, and I think the sequencing was important… or else I might have shaved Vespertine Shroud off. Ah well
